Our aim is to provide high quality dental care and to use clinical time effectively, which reduces cost for everyone. To achieve this, we have a fair appointment management and cancellation policy.
As part of this policy, a deposit equal to 50% of expected treatment costs is taken for each confirmed booking. The amount will naturally be deducted in full from the costs you pay on the day.
We appreciate that circumstances can change and as long as at least two working days notice is given, there will be no charge for cancellation. This allows time for your appointment to be reallocated, perhaps to meet emergency needs.
Where less than 48 business hours notice is given (Saturday and Sunday not included and Specialists require 5 working days business) the deposit will be retained as a cancellation fee. However, if it is a long procedure which is cancelled in less than 48 business hours, 50% of the treatment fee will be charged.
There will be no further charge, the 50% retention is simply intended to cover part of the cost of the chair and staff. With little notice, there is a high chance the time and resources will go unused.
Managing Your Appointments
Appointments at Elgin Dental Care are normally confirmed by email, or text, according to your preference. Should you be unclear about your appointment time, by all means get in touch on 020 7286 1830, between 8:30am and 5:15pm.
If a need to reschedule does crop up, please contact us at the earliest possible opportunity. Your treatment is our first concern and we will offer an alternative time, the deposit will simply roll over, providing reasonable notice is given.
If you are cancelling for someone else, clinical confidentiality requirements do apply. We need to know you have their permission, or that they are incapacitated, perhaps due to illness, or that you are the patient’s parent, or carer.
Taking A Balanced View
Missed appointments can interfere with your dental treatment, or affect scheduling for other patients. Our cancellation policy is part of good patient care.
We do understand that exceptional circumstances can apply and will take on board any appeals about cancellation fees. They should be sent in writing (post or email) to our practice manager, you will receive a reply.
Your support and understanding on our policy is appreciated. This helps to ensure that our patients receive timely dental treatment, at a fair cost.
